An evening of poetry celebrating Spirit of Place: Mendocino County Women Poets Anthology will be held at Willits Community Theatre on Saturday, August 15 at 7:00pm.

Sponsored by the Starlight Lounge Poetry Series, the reading will feature work from women across Mendocino County who have written poems responding to the phrase, “spirit of place.”

Spirit of Place is the first project envisioned by Devreaux Baker, the first Poet Laureate of Mendocino County. Included in the anthology are poets publishing their work for the first time along-side poets who were featured in the first Wood, Water, Air and Fire Anthology of Mendocino Women Poets, published in 1998 by M.L. Mackie at Pot Shard Press in Comptche, CA.

As part of the anthology project, Devreaux created Wayfind Press and hopes to continue publishing local poets and writers with future projects that engage the county with the world at large. Admission is by donation.
