Kirk Lumpkin
Mendocino County Poet Kirk Lumpkin brings an exciting poetry/music performance to the Willits Community Theatre on Saturday, August 9th at 7pm. This is a CD release party for Wildflowers of Collaboration the new CD by The Word-Music Continuum which includes Kirk and Bay Area musicians Paul Mills on electric guitar and Mark Wieder on electric & double bass. KZYX DJ Kathy Rippey of the show Get On Up wrote this about the CD: “. . . absolutely astounding. Wonderful, empathetic accompaniment. And your voice is so expressive … Every cut is such a great adventure.”
This is The Word-Music Continuum’s 3rd CD. They have performed at festivals, art centers, clubs, cafes, and bookstores including: the North Beach Festival, Watershed Environmental Poetry Festival, Burning Man, Telegraph Avenue Book Fair, Mills College, Copperfield’s Bookstore, Cody’s Books, Beat Museum, Petaluma Poetry Walk, Berkeley Public Library (Main Branch), etc.
Kirk Lumpkin is also the author of two books of poetry In Deep and Co-Hearing and has released two CDs of original rock songs. He’s said, “It seems my most persistent poetic mode is eco-spiritual which can manifest as poems of celebration and love, to witness and social criticism, to naturalist stories, rants, prayers, and a recent accent on raps in costume.”
The Willits Community Theatre is located at 37 W. Van Lane, Willits, CA, 94590. Admission is by donation. An open reading will follow the featured performance.
